It is pleasantly warm as the walls are insulated with sheep's wool. There is now a large window where the Koetshuis doors once were. The west side overlooks the vast green meadows.
Sit in the sun or choose a shady spot under one of the trees. You can bathe as long as you want in the hot tub.
Our eggs are produced by our own chickens. We know addresses in the area where you can get organic groceries.
The farmer likes to explain what organic farming is all about.
Create your own schedule. Walk on the road or through the fields. In winter, visit the animals in the barn. Want to help out? That is always possible, simply roll up your sleeves.
In summer, cows, sheep and Friesian horses graze in the meadows. In the evening, it gets really dark here. Thousands of stars illuminate the sky. You can see bats or be startled by a "screaming" bird. Sometimes you discover a barn owl sitting in the side window.
Centuries ago, the North Frisian residents raised their mounds for habitation on salt marsh ridges. This is how the mound villages were created. Many monasteries were built in the Middle Ages and later demolished again. Many villages have old church buildings. From the year 1000, the dyke landscape has grown into what it is today.
The city of Dokkum is a pearl on the edge of the Wadden landscape. Hiaure lies to the north. In 10 minutes you are on the seawall at Holwerd or Ternaard. You can see Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. There are beautiful routes through the area for cyclists.
Visit the Buddhist Stupa at Hantum or the Market with Ice Fountain in Dokkum. The seasons can be felt with spells of clouds and the birds in the sky. When it rains, and a strong wind is blowing, you can sit inside comfortably in front of the large window.
If you wish, we provide a bag with organic groceries ready with a savoury snack in the evening and for breakfast the next day.
The Koetshuis is very quiet and pleasant due to the natural wool insulation. The mattresses are made of organic cotton, ticking, horsehair and sheep and camel wool.
Are there more than 4 people? An extra mattress or cot can be added, or a tent can be placed in the garden or meadow.
